Around the World Spa Themed Birthday

Above is a themed birthday cake I made for a friend's daughter Sarah. It was her seventh birthday and the theme was "Around the World Spa Party". That was an interesting combo for sure, but I'm so proud of this one I had to post 4 pictures of it! :) The cake is fresh strawberry with a vanilla pudding and fresh strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream icing. The little pieces of makeup are made from rolled fondant. It was fun to make and I think it turned out pretty cute!

Buona Pasqua!

I'm headed to the US over Easter (Pasqua in Italia), but my sweet landlady Anna brought me this cute little cake. It is traditional from the town of Bacoli where we live. It tasted a bit like bread with star annis (licorice) flavor and a caramelized glaze. It's pretty cute but this is about as elaborate as most cakes get with decorations here :)

Mardi Gras Birthday Cake

Mr. Joe Olivo, the chef for the Child Development Center, commissioned this cake from me for his daughter Cindy's birthday with a Mardi Gras theme. He is a true New Orleans native and a FANTASTIC chef, even used to cook for an admiral! So to tell you the truth I was rather nervous. The cake is homemade red velvet with cream cheese filling and vanilla buttercream icing and decorations. Hope you all like it!
